Hi,
I have installed rdtabs 2.1.25 on myb windows 7 machine but "Allow passwords to be saved(Disabled by group policy)" is always grey in the option. The document says I should change it from GP policy but Windows 7 didn't have "Terminal Services " anymore. I change changed it in "Remote Desktop Services->Remote Desktop Connection Client->Do not allow passwords to be saved" but it is still grey. I also tried manually created one key in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\DisablePasswordSaving Registry but it didn't help. Can you help one this?

Thanks
Michael

The name change of Terminal Services to Remote Desktop Services did not change the way any of the Group Policy settings work.

Group policy works in a hierarchy. Your local policy is the first policy applied. This is what you edit when you type GPEdit.MSC from your client machine. This can be overridden by a policy in the domain, which is what is likely occurring if editing the local policy does not change the behavior.

The "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\DisablePasswordSaving" location is not correct for that policy. It is actually located in "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services\DisablePasswordSaving"

This will be overwritten every time policy is reapplied.

You are correct. My domain group policy overridden my setting.
Is there a way to bypass domain group policy?
Thank you very much.

Nope. That would kind of defeat the purpose of group policy. 🙂

I'm having the same problem. I applied local group policy setting to Allow Delegated Saved Credentials with NTLM-only Server Authentication yet I still can't save passwords in RD Tabs latest version. I ran rsop.msc and it shows that the state is enabled. I restarted RD tabs but same story.

Any ideas?

Local policy is overridden by domain policy. And when you say it shows enabled, is it showing the policy as enabled? I think the policy might be worded something like, disable password saving, so if you enable it, you actually disable it. I can't recall offhand.
