The user.config file is corrupt. This can happen if your computer crashed or something while RD Tabs was saving the config.

You can try hand-editing the user.config file in the appdata folder for RDTabs if you have data you need to save, or you can run the 32-bit version, go to Tools -> Profile Cleanup, and then delete the newest versions. When you launch RD Tabs (64-bit) again it will revert to the previous version.

Thanks. However, even though the user.config file says it's 535KB, when I open it in Notepad it is blank, and when I open it in Notepad++ it is full of [NUL] entries.

Would it be possible to update the program so that it periodically saves a backup config? This looks like it isn't a terribly unusual occurance.

The next major version will use a new settings system that maintains the ten most recent versions of the configurations and automatically recovers from errors like badly formatted XML.

Not sure why this happens to some people. It's never happened to me over all the years of developing and using it. The current version uses the built-in settings in .Net, so you would think that would be pretty robust since it's part of the framework. There must be some sort of trigger that I haven't been able to pin down for why/when it happens.
