Using Windows 10 Pro, RD Tabs 3.0.10.641. Monitor resolution 1920 x 1080.

If the aspect ratio for a connection is locked, the text scaling results in poorly legible characters. Turning off the aspect ratio lock restores correct character scaling.

I like the aspect ratio lock but have turned it off because at certain sizes the text can be misinterpreted (for example, d:\ looked like c:\ because the vertical line of the lower case "d" disappeared.)

Can you post a screenshot? I used locked aspect ratio as well and haven't seen any distortion outside normal scaling.

Very strange. I turned aspect ratio lock off and worked for a while, then after receiving your note I turned it back on. The text scaling issue went away. RDTabs scales text properly with a locked aspect ratio or not.

Same computer, same monitor, etc.

I wonder if I had some other program running that was adversely affecting the text scaling? I'll keep an eye on it and if it re-occurs I'll re-post with a screen shot.

Are you maybe using a >100% system scaling? Check windows display properties. If so, try the setting in Options - General to use native DPI inside RD Tabs. You might get better results. It varies from system to system but generally allowing Windows Scaling is better for most, so it's the default.

No, I'm always scaling down: both the remote and local machines are set to 1920x1080 but the local machine is not running RDTabs in full screen mode.

Today, the scaling issue returned, so I'm beginning to think it has something to do with Windows 10 going into screen saver mode and when it returns the font scaling isn't working. Here is an example:

That could be. In that case it may be a graphics driver related. Did you try enabling this setting?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.

I have tried that option and it seems to help. I won't know more for a while.

One thing I did notice: when the problem occurs it seem to NEVER occur in the FIRST tab opened, only in the second and so on.

I'll let you know if it reoccurs with the native resolution option set.

I think I found a way to cause the problem. It might be unusual.

If I accidentally run a video via VLC from the remote system, the font scaling issue happens. This occurs when I accidentally double click on a MKV file (I need a new trackball - the left button "bounces" so I sometimes get a double click when I mean a single click). VLC opens and starts to play the video. When I cancel VLC, text on the screen isn't scaled smoothly. VLC must do something to the font settings.

I don't know if this helps or not.

Wow that's really weird. That's the first I've heard of that. I'll see if I can replicate, but you are right it might be something related to VLC setting something on the remote side that doesn't play well with RDP.
