I've just installed Windows 7 Pro, and went to install the latest version of RDtabs. However, no matter what location I pick, it is dropping all of the install files into C:\ . What am I doing wrong? (I've been using RDtabs for over 2 years, so this is rather strange to me.) Thanks.

I cannot replicate this issue. It is working as designed on my test machines. Are all other MSI installers working for you (other apps using MSIs)?

I haven't had this problem with any other MSIs, and it was really weird to me because I've never seen this behavior before installing anything else. I was finally able to get the install to work by downloading the zipfile version. I have two physical drives in the computer (C: and E:) and I was originally running the MSI from E:. The zipfile that worked was downloaded and installed from C:. I don't know if this is relevant but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

That's interesting. The zip file contains the same MSI, but has the .exe as a "bootstrap" which can be used to easily elevate in XP (via RunAs) whereas Vista/7 should automatically elevate.

this happened to me too. To resolve, I just created a folder under Program Files and moved all the RD files from c:\ to there.
Windows 7 64-bit

I have installed on Win 7 64 and 32 bit and a colleague has it on Win 7 64 bit and we haven't had this problem. I'm wondering if it's a permissions issue. We are usually full admins on the computers and have UAC disabled by default.

It will install correctly with UAC enabled. I've done it dozens of times. I agree that it's probably a permissions issue or something unique to the installation. I'm very interested to find out what the problem is, but I just can't recreate it.
